Maddie Di Muccio’s roots in York Region run deep. Growing up and attending school in Richmond Hill, she later went on to Carleton University in Ottawa, married, and chose Newmarket as the home in which to start and raise a family. Living in Ward 6 – the south west area of Newmarket – for 10 years has given her the privilege of making good friends and securing ties in the community.
Retreating temporarily from her professional life in the marketing field, she stayed home to raise three boys. During this period Maddie volunteered her time at the local school in which her children attended and worked as a volunteer in Palliative Care at Southlake Hospital. Once her children began to attend school regularly she re entered the work field.
In 2008’s federal election, Maddie became involved in the Conservative candidate’s campaign in her riding. She was offered a position as the newly elected MP’s constituent assistant and excelled in her job there. Building ties in the community, illustrating a successful track record, and volunteering her time and skills in the political sector, Maddie’s experience opened the doors for her to travel Ontario and assist other community organizations. She is a board member of CAFO, an organization that assists Afghani and Canadian soldiers and their families who are victims of war; a board member of the EDA in Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing, and a Director on the EDA for the PCPO in Newmarket-Aurora.
Passionate about women’s issues, Maddie has organized an exciting event to be held in early spring 2010 in Newmarket with some remarkable and inspiring keynote speakers.
Maddie’s energy and enthusiasm gives her the opportunity to use the political realm to bring about positive change: for a fiscally responsible taxation system, for accessible amenities, and for fair and balanced representation on Council.
In the growing community of Newmarket, Maddie continues her volunteer work in Palliative Care, the Newmarket Redbirds Lacrosse Club, and with her children’s school. She has additionally volunteered in fundraising for Sick Kids Hospital in community walk a thons and several other charities. Her continued involvement in the community of Newmarket – whether it be raising money for Big Brother or participating in the annual Holland River clean up – is driven by her passion for a vibrant place to live, grow, and develop.
She happily resides in her Ward within Newmarket with her three young boys, Jack, 10, Alexander, 9, Nicolas, 5, and her husband John.
