Maurice lives in Ward 1 in the Pine Creek Community. He has been a resident of Pickering for over 31 years. First moving to Ward One in 1975, he lived in the Amberlea Community for 22 years and founded the Amberlea Rate Payers Association which played a major role in building its parks and community schools. In 1997 Maurice and his family moved from the urban community to the rural area and owned and operated the "Duffins Beck Equine Farm",in Ward 3 where he raised horses and farmed organic hay. Through 10 years of farming Maurice Brenner gained an appreciation for the difficulties and challenges facing todays farmer. He was a member of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture during his years of farming.

By experiencing both an urban and rural lifestyle, Maurice knows first hand the importance of ensuring a balanced approach to growth for Pickering.

Maurice Brenner was a Pickering Councillor for 21 consecutive years representing Ward One. He was first elected In 1985 as the Local Ward One Councillor and again in 1988. In 1991 he was elected Ward One Regional Councillor and continues to serve the residents of Ward One both at the City and Region.

Following the 2006 Municipal Election Maurice’s commitment switched to one of advocacy on behalf of the community he loves.

Maurice is a graduate of Ryerson where he completed the Social Service Program. He has worked for 32 years in various Community Service roles. Presently Maurice specializes in Human Rights, Conflict Resolution and Mediation.

Maurice is committed to “a Sustainable Pickering” which he chaired on behalf of Council during his final term.  He believes in a "Total Community Vision", and will advocate for it.
